A series of technological breakthroughs have enabled what is now recognized as the fourth industrial revolution. Today, China and the European Union are the world’s leaders in terms of industrial input. They have both defined advanced manufacturing technologies and systems as a top priority for economic growth.
But what does it mean for business leaders? How can they efficiently leverage intelligent manufacturing developments to face increasing market competition? How can they build sustainable competitive advantages when disruption is the new normal of business? How can they drive change in their companies when skillsets and forms of organization are continuously challenged?
Business leaders can no longer rely on their past training and experience when the nature of change is complex and adaptive. They need to challenge their assumptions and adopt an experimental mindset. It requires new thinking, experimentation, data collection and interpretation, and the willingness to be open to uncomfortable change in spite of your tradition and history.
Applied research helps businesses bridge the gap between the present and the future, between what is assumed and what is the new reality. It enables managers and leaders to discover new ways of operating that can’t be found anywhere else.
Applied research is the right approach to solve the most complex, adaptive problems of intelligent manufacturing management. Businesses and leaders who will embrace it will definitely be ahead of the competition.
École des Ponts Business School has joined forces with UCMT to establish the first doctoral program specialized in Intelligent Manufacturing Management.
Taught in English and in Mandarin, this program allows participants to develop research skills and thought leadership in a reassuring and accessible environment. The program is designed to change your career perspectives thanks to a pedagogical approach that is different, challenging, and meaningful.
To deliver state-of-the-art teaching, highly qualified faculty has been sourced internationally. Half of the professors are affiliated with École des Ponts Business School. This top-level cross-institutional partnership allows for the constant sharing of best practices and the highest standards of research quality. Doctoral students are supported by a mix of international and local tutors and supervisors to successfully complete the program while holding challenging working positions.
Based in Shanghai, the program includes several periods of study at the École des Ponts ParisTech campus in Paris, where participants attend conferences with guest lecturers, go on company visits, cultural visits and partake in practical exercises to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.
After successfully defending the DBA (IMM) program, doctoral graduates will be awarded a diploma stamped by both École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC) and École des Ponts Business School: “Doctorate of Business Administration in Intelligent Manufacturing Management.” They will also receive a Chinese certificate.
