About cIM

The École des Ponts Business School has been proudly offering a course in International Management (cIM) since 1999, a program which is specially designed to fit the schedules of ParisTech engineering and doctoral students and to offer participants an in-depth introduction to business and management in a weekend format, and with the school’s unique teaching style.

Using an MBA-style pedagogy, classes are interactive in nature, based on case studies, group work and discussions of modern business practice. All courses are taught by a cadre of renowned international professors and all courses are strictly in English. Note: most schools accept cIM classes as part of the English course requirements for an engineering degree.

The cIM program has been specially designed to introduce participants to the Fundamentals of Management (Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Operations Management, Human Resources, Strategy) and to complement French engineering curricula. In addition to the core curriculum in Management the program also includes a more advanced module on Technology & Innovation Management as well as an Entrepreneurship module that integrates innovation and starting a business (from ideation to the marketplace). The program is completed with a final integrative business simulation module, MarkStrat, which calls on learnings from the other program modules and ensures assimilation of key business and management concepts and best practices.

This 10-month, 15 ECTS, program, held one weekend per month, is limited to 50 participants per year.

About The Program

Participants will have access to the resources of the renowned École des Ponts Business School including an English-language learning environment, a multi-cultural atmosphere, specialized academic expertise, multidisciplinary studies, and an international faculty – all specialists in their fields.

The cIM program is taught according to the MBA blended-learning method (case studies, group work, presentations, lectures, video, debates, …) in which students are active participants in their own learning. This is not the passive one-way lecture approach many of you are used to in other fields.

In addition, cIM graduates who are interested in going further, can qualify for accelerated École des Ponts Business School admissions and a tuition reduction.

cIM: cycle in International Management

This program was formerly open only to ENPC engineering students. In 2007 it was opened to all ParisTech engineering students and in 2010 to all grandes ecoles students. In 2012, it is also open to university students and working professionals who have sufficient English language skills.

The cIM program was initially designed to complement grandes ecoles engineering curricula in order to enable students to acquire general management and international business skills, to improve their business English-language skills, to increase their chances of international mobility, to improve their cultural awareness and capacity to work effectively in multi-cultural teams and, finally, to develop personal networking opportunities.

Throughout this program, students will be taught a core curriculum of Introductory Management courses (seven 15-hour courses), one Innovation and Technology Management course, a course in Entrepreneurship, and concludes with an integrative business simulation module.

Testimonials

Jérémy Adric Firozaly, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, cIM 2014-2015

“The cIM programme has been a wonderful experience for me on cultural, human, and intellectual aspects and I would like to thank warmly all the professors and the Business School staff for their dedication and for this exciting year. We have had the chance to be surrounded by experts in their fields and to study in an international environment as the courses were fully taught in English and students and professors came from all around the world! This programme has enabled me to acquire knowledge in areas such as Finance, Management, Entrepreneurship or Marketing that I had not been able to study during my engineering degree. However, this programme is not only a sequence of excellence and advanced courses in different areas, it’s a complete course in itself as it creates continuous links among various courses that professors teach and refer to. We can therefore get a global overview on the essential features around a business, company or market. It was an ideal programme as I was perfectly able to pursue my PhD in parallel to the cIM courses as it takes place during the weekends. On a personal aspect, I am now able to understand better what my friends do in their jobs as managers, financial auditor or accountant. I would definitely recommend it to any PhD student who would like to discover areas that are actually more related to our core competences than we could naively think”.

Luis Cabrero Landa, Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, Madrid/Spain, cIM 2013-2014
“I would like to thank the cIM program for opening my mind, and teaching me about  several business subjects that I didn’t learn from my Civil Engineering degree in Spain.
Although flying from Spain every month has been tough, it was worth it, and I really  recommend it to anyone interested on business knowledge. I have learned a lot, not  only from the amazing teachers that the cIM program brings to the school, but also, from the students, who are incredible smart and true entrepreneurs. The international environment and the entrepreneurial spirit on the class has made me know about new career opportunities that I could follow, and the cIM lectures have provided me with tons of tools to begin my professional career, in fact, in January 2014, while during the cIM course, I’ve been hired as a full time consultant, and now I’m providing consulting services to some of the Top 500 firms in the world. Furthermore I’ve been also assigned to coordinate two projects at the same time, related with the strategic expansion of a company to UK and optimizing the contracts documentation processes of a corporation by developing new software.
After obtaining some experience at this job, I’ll start my own business, as after finishing the cIM program I feel prepared to be successful on it”.

Nadia Wakim, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, cIM 2013-2014

“Looking back at this year, I strongly feel that the cIM has helped me to develop my critical  thinking. The courses were truly enriching on both human and intellectual level. Personally,  the program has changed the way I look at things on a daily basis. This is how, as a customer, I assess differently the marketing campaigns and the business strategy that a company is trying to deploy as well as the market dynamics in which it is dealing. In addition to that, I  have acquired the basics to apprehend the literature on my own thus allowing me to further develop my general knowledge in the domain: news, articles, and books have become easily comprehensible. Last and certainly not least, I would like to thank the teachers and the academic staff for all the effort they put into making this module an interesting experience.”

Elias Karam, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, cIM T&E 2010-2011

“Now that the cIM courses for 2010/2011 have ended, I  want to thank you and all the  cIM team (Professors and Administration) for those successful weekends. I am currently doing my summer internship at Booz&Co, working on a transportation  project between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The cIM courses were a big help for getting me  to know the management consulting practice and  to get me through the interview  process successfully. Most importantly what I have learned this year represents my daily work today.”

William Squier, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, cIM IB 2009-2010

“I wanted to write you an email in order to thank you for this year’s classes, telling you that I have really enjoyed the program and that it has given me really efficient tools in order to have a better understanding about the world that is surrounding us. So thank you again for letting me into the program and providing us with high quality courses and professors. I liked it so much that I am actually doing my one year internship in an architecture/engineering company in the strategic planning department: for the first six months, I am being trained with the strategic tools of the company (finance, planning, management, programming…), and the six following months they will send me to Bogota in order to manage the development of the company in South America along with the Director that is already out there. What a gap between this and civil engineering! Isn’t it?”
